Fishing & Hunting in Canada... Smallmouth Bass - Walleye - Northern Pike - Muskie Black Bear - Moose
Maynard Lake Lodge
Fishing Ontario

Oak Lake is a magnificent 25 mile long lake on the renouned English River System. The inflow into the lake is two large waterfalls and the outflow is a navigable river linking Oak Lake to Maynard Lake. This prolific lake, abundant with walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass and Muskie can be fished using a variety of techniques. There are both lake and river fishing, sunken islands, sand flats and miles of cabbage weed edges, all waiting to be discovered. The bright gold walleye found at the east end of Oak Lake average between two and four pounds with many over the five pound mark.

Northern over 40 inches are common and, depending on the time of year, four pound plus smallmouth bass are a daily occurrence. Most fishermen prefer live bait such as minnows, leeches or crawlers, but they are not necessary. Many opt for strictly artificial bait and do just great. The choice is yours. At Oak Lake we strongly promote "Catch and Release" fishing. You may eat as much fish as you like during your stay, but take no limits home. This management stragegy has made for fantastic fishing and will ensure large, strong fish populations for years to come.
